Oh well foals are all alike my friend said , they just cling to their mothers .
Not so !!! can you tell what sort of little person your foal will be when they grow up ?? Our new Vanner colt is two days old , from day one i knew he was a boy without looking for the boys bits , how ?? i hear you say , it was the confidence and the fact that he ran off from his mother to go and hide in a hedge to do a poo , this is a very stallion thing to do , mares will go where ever ,boys go in one place .
From day one this little man gave his mother the run around , he took a liking to his aunt a Vanner filly who is a first time mother due to foal any day , she was suprised when he stuck his little head between her legs looking for milk but was very kind and just walked off , she was not as shocked as his father a young Gypsy Vanner stallion was when the baby tried to look for milk between his legs , we looked on in amusment as the foal tried to follow them with his mother getting cross with the other horses as she wanted him to stay by her , they ran as fast as they could as not to get in trouble with his mother but he wanted to be with them . Two days on and he knows where his milk comes from so there is peace in the camp .
What a joy it is to have a foal , Gypsy Vanners make it easy , the stallions and mares are kind and will all run together as a family , little do they know that in a day or so our little man will have a brother or sister , we have our Vanners foal out in the field with the rest of the family , many folk bring their mares in , but we think it is more fiting to go with nature , so far so good . I look forward to bloging you about the next new baby , i am also looking forward to posting pics of the siblings playing , lots more to see with our Vanner family so please come back and comment .
