Education of Stallion

The first stallion i owned was an Arab , he was semi rescued at the age of four , he had to be handled on a stallion bit with a chain as he had never been allowed to be a proper horse , i vowed from that day any Stallion i had would be allowed to be himself !! The Stallion i am talking about went on to take gold at INT shows , i still own him aged 21 .

A Stallions life can be a lonely one , but only if we make it !! we can exclude him from mares , treat him as a thing to be recond with . I hope to show you the way we do it .
Roman , has been sat on for seconds from the age of two , he is coming five now so he has to be ridden , we have had fun over the last week ! the saddle and bridle is new to him , he is a good boy but , he has tried all !!! to get out of doing what he is told ,Gypsy Horses are known for being loving , we re loving this boy , he is soo funny i cant tell you ,all i can do is send pics. xx

I Have told you all i would make a blog to keep you all coming back , Oh my , i have to live up to it know !!!! I am going to take you step by step through the education of our young Gypsy Horse Stallion .

At this point , hi to Sinatras mum and dad as you have this to come , the boy in question is a near on five years Stallion from the Lottery Horse lines , we have owned him from the age of two .
He has spent the last two summers meeting ladies and as a result has produced only filly foals , but now he has to become a bigger boy and to be ridden is all part of this .
Over the next few weeks come and join us , tomorrow i will tell you of his education with us until today, i am looking forward to sharing this with you good or bad, he is a good boy but he is a stallion so i think he will be trying to test us , check in tomorrow all , there is lots more to come i am sure .

I had to make him go out on a circle , so i lightly rested the whip on his rear end , oh my !!! you would have thought he had been bitten by a snake , he shot off side ways and i just managed to keep hold of him , after half an hour he just got it !!! but was running around me so fast in small circles he got as dizzy as i did , so no control yet but he gets it , that is a far as we have got to date , i am loving doing this , i hope you all have a great time sharing it with me , check the blog in a day or so and we will have done more , it would be great if you blog back . The plan was to get him to lunge , lunge line on and lunging whip in hand , i tried to push him out to start a circle – no chance , me not really knowing what i was doing and him having no clue , i have spent months getting him to come to me , now i am chasing him away !! after 15 mins in the heat i was red in the face and he was so confused he rooted all four feet to the sopt and refused to move , i called for mum to help , even she couldnt move him

Not Mr Wobbles now exept after a full tummy of milk , learnt to show off his stride in true Gypsy horse style , gets very eager when we go to see him , dashes back and forth in a canter whilst bucking , just waiting for those naughty foal hooves to come our way , oh boy !!! he will have a shock when he does , if within seconds i can return the favour with a loud verbal telling of i will , some folas wont try it again , but given he is a little boy i am sure as with most males he will try it again.
I am at work for the next two days so he has time to plan how to play games with the human , he is so funny now i am sure we will get great fun pictures , i could proberbly u -tube it as foals behaving bad , well time will tell , Gypsy Cobs are known for their kind nature , tell this to a young colt !! We /i hope he will become a good examlpe of the type of horse we offer on Gypsy MVP , well grounded and a family friend , a horse we can tell you all about .

This boy is due to fly out soon with his mother , even though he is a new baby we all love him , even people that walk their dogs passed the land know him , this is going to be a very hard one to wave goodbye to .

back to tell you more in a days time as i have to work in a busy ER room , my camera is going to be clicking like mad , this is proper education day !! hope you all like this , there are so many Gypsy Vanners , Gypsy horses , or Gypsy cobs , thought it would be fun to share , i am not working friday my time , wooooo here comes the scarey halter ,i just know he will throw himself over backwards , they all do , all you can do is be kind , once they know what pressure means they come around , Ha !!!! not sure he will be with me on this one !! lets see how it goes , look for photos friday . Sinatra , what a difference a day makes

You will see from the last photos we all love him , every time i try so hard not to do this , but it is sooo hard , all things in moderation is the key , too much of these close cuddles can store probs for later on as they start to see you as one of them and if they have a strong will , you will be lower than them in order.

There has to be a line drawn at some stage , day two , still Mr Wobbles , wants to be with us , touching him all over , tried to trot today , how funny , he gave up as he kept falling over .

Day three , wants to jump all over us , took him out for a walk with his mother , went exploring and then realised he had lost his way , poor little man scremed for us and mummy , dont think he will do that in a hurry again , has learnt to canter and buck on the spot due to a fly he could not reach , getting more brave !! trying to pull away and rear if you want to hold him , my , how quick the flight instinct kicks in , i think tomorrow a soft halter is coming his way .

Educating Sinatra

We thought it might be fun to share our new baby with you , his education from day one , we all do things our own way and no two foals are the same .

This young man is three days old today , we were not sure when his mother was due to foal , she had full teats for 4 weeks but never looked big enough to foal , as we all do when her teats became very big at the back end went soft over night – we were all on foal alert , after a week of this checking all night , going to work looking and smelling like a Zombie we gave up , the night before she foaled did the usual checking for waxing -still nothing , thought it might be another week or so .
During the night the stork that brings all of our babies must have had a spare slot in his diary , the next morning there he was.

I was woken by a call saying Rosie has had her baby , a lovely little girl !!! as always, i rang the whole world telling them we had a new baby girl !! then came the bit i love , you walk towards the stable wondering what it will look like , more black ? more white ? one head or two .

The answer was more white than Black , a baby beard Santa would die for , two blue eyes hence “Sinatra” then little wobbles stood up , it soon became clear that the little pink bottom had no girls bits even after i had tried to part pink skin and nearly made one .

he is so very cute we all love him , i have taken lots of photos to share with you , i am off to try to upload them now . The next post will be about from one day old , today is day three and he is already becoming a real little boy . Anne .
